Production Update: The Prequel Phase (Calgary, AB)
Media Internship & Land Share Program:
As a former SAIT photography student, Alberta Rodeo Photographer, and YouTube Creator, my goal for the Calgary prequel of this 7-year, 14-season docuseries was to launch a hands-on Media Production Internship. I wanted to mentor young local creators, in Nova Scotia giving them direct access to high-end gear, video production workflows, and editing suites.
Simultaneously, I designed a Land Share Program framework to help young, landless farmers get a foothold in a brutal market.
Days were spent building out structures, legal notices, and waivers. However, looking ahead to our “boots on the ground” launch in Nova Scotia next spring, the wall of provincial red tape, bureaucratic hoops, and legal loopholes proved too restrictive for an independent production to absorb right now.
Status: Both Programs Shelved by Government Red Tape.
Note: We aren’t deleting these pages. These are vital blueprints for helping people, and they represent the exact systemic barriers this documentary journey is bound to clash with.
If we find a clean legal pathway to bypass the endless hoop-jumping and permission-begging, these programs will be reactivated. For now, the cameras roll on the prequel.
